FLIPPED LEARNING ACTIVITIES
INNOVATIVE PROJECT PLAN- KV PORT TRUST KOCHI-03
The nationwide lockdown imposed by the government of India to prevent the spread of coronavirus should be followed strictly. With COVID-19 spreading, almost all the educational institutions are closed as a precautionary measure against the disease. In the wake of this emergency situation, educational institutes around the globe are shifting their operations to online learning.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) the pace setting organization also can takea leading role with novel idea “stay-at-home”, “be safe” and “learn through virtual platform” to avoid academic loss of the students. Hence Kendriya Vidyalaya, Port Trust, Kochi, Kerala has decided to undertake an innovative project: “Flipped Learning Activities”.
Objectives:
-
“Flipped Learning Activities” is an online virtual platform based on the latest educational strategy, “flipped class room teaching”.
-
The flipped learning model promotes student-centered learning which is the process of using different instructional methods to target individual needs, motivations, engagement, and supports that will allow students to succeed on their own.
-
The ‘knowledge acquisition’ takes place outside the class room, each student can control it to match their own personal abilities and appetite.
-
The learner will spend more time collaborating with various learning activities and also enhance their working skills
Project team:
The “Flipped Learning Activities”is a project undertaken by the faculties of Kendriya Vidyalaya. Teachers can prepare learners activities based on the guidelines “the teacher preparation” and “the learners activates”. Sh. Prabhakaran PM, Principal, KV Port Trust will provide online support through WhatsApp No.9444301964,email- pmprabh91@gmail.com, and blog:https://eresourcekv.wixsite.com/home
Scope of the project:
The “Flipped Learning Activities “is a new method of learning through internet with the support of subject experts of KVS. It is an online cum offline platform in which 189 degree shift in traditional education. In flipped class room, students will have direct access to all learning materials and the instructor serves as a coach and mentor.
The “Flipped Learning Activities” does exactly what it sounds like. It reverses the traditional learning dynamics, completely. Further the students don’t learn new content in the class room, by having a teacher instruct them. Instead they learn it from video, online sources and other sources provided by the instructor, in their own time and space.
The “Flipped Learning Activities “enables the students to spend more time collaborating with various learning activities and also enhance their working skills. The ‘knowledge acquisition’ now takes place outside the class room, each student can control it to match their own personal abilities and appetite.
A traditional classroom instruction-based method relies on every student absorbing and understanding at the same time and pace,“Flipped learning “doesn’t. This can be particularly liberating for late boomers and they are free to learn in a way that works for them.
Previously, students were only exposed to one source of information on a topic: that which the teacher gave them in class. With “Flipped Learning Activities” they can explore much more, they can access multiple sources, and subject experts can direct them towards various sources.
Once students have a basic foundation on a certain subject, instructors can provide higher order thinking skill learning material. Therefore, instructors can deliver more in-depth learning material to those who are looking for a challenge.
“Meta cognitive skills” seems like a difficult word, but it is easy to explain. It’s about knowing how to learn and on what learning style suits you best. The “Flipped Learning Activities” requires a lot of self-discipline. Students have to know how to best learn, but this will come with practice.
